Assertiveness & Boundaries

Clear boundaries and calm assertiveness are the foundation of healthy relationships. At HappinessCue, our Assertiveness & Boundaries sessions teach you how to state needs respectfully, handle pushback, and maintain self-respect without escalating conflict.

We start with differentiating passive, aggressive, and assertive styles, then practice phrases and posture choices that feel authentic. Role-plays recreate typical situations-requests from bosses, family guilt, or peer pressure-so you can rehearse saying “no,” asking for change, or requesting time with less anxiety.

Counsellors also help identify internal barriers: fear of rejection, people-pleasing, or identity tied to utility. Techniques include graded exposure (small boundary experiments), calming scripts for heated moments, and debriefing to refine language. You’ll learn how to anticipate pushback and have contingency responses that keep conversations productive.

For long-term change, we integrate boundaries into routines-scheduled check-ins with partners, protected work hours, or explicit delegation language at work. These habits reduce resentful outbursts and increase mutual respect.
